The magic of the territory: the Monte Castellaro
We are four women – emotional and sensitive with deeply felt values and diverse stories but one thing in common: since we discovered the unique quality of this Tenuta Castellaro microcosm we have found it difficult to leave. Our work, and what we believe in, is a land packed with history, tradition, culture and wonder.
History teaches us to get to know, appreciate and be proud of our roots and our land. Even if we are not originally from this area we fell immediately in love with its breath-taking views ranging from the hills to the Alpine foothills, the magical air at dawn in the first days of summer, the strength and tenacity of the vines, the woodland animals and the fragrances the area is suffused with.

An ancient land
Tenuta Castellaro is located on a single, ultra-historic hill between the Berici and Euganei hills but a trifle cut off, benefiting from all the night time cool air currents which come in from the Alps and optimal sun exposure from dawn to dusk. It is a hill which is farmed expertly with Pinot Noir, positioned strategically on multiple sites with various sun exposures in order to obtain the most balanced and harmonious wine cellar results.
Tenuta Castellaro’s terroir has everything it takes to make this Pinot Noir a top class wine and something extra to make it unforgettable. In addition to the loving hands which tend to the vines and their juicy grapes every day, the atmosphere here is magical and one which the wines give back in all its nuances.

A place unique
We chose this estate, this place, this history, this atmosphere because they are capable of making it not simply elegant but unique. The area’s hills are older than its Euganei and Berici neighbours and the soil is volcanic in origin and made up principally of limestone and marls. These are the ideal characteristics with which to exalt the mineral personality of our sparkling wines.
They are so perfect, in fact, that as far back as the Middle Ages the Benedictine monks who settled here and on these gentle hills and Mt Castellaro expertly farmed vines on it, obtaining unique and memorable results. And then once again in the 1600s when the wines of this area were called “as delicate as Perseghina Malvasia and as generous as the Polish Muscat” by historian Barbarano up to today with the rediscovery of this precious estate with its age old wine vocation.

An exclusive terroir
Our estate was called after the little hill on which it is located, Mt Castellaro, currently one of very few hills in the Veneto region to be entirely farmed by a single estate.
With MyRò we chose Pinot Noir because it is one of the oldest vines, having been cultivated in France for over 2000 years, and one of the most sophisticated, with its delicate, subtle flavours. Pinot Noir is an austere variety, an awkward and demanding one. It is famous for needing lots of love and attention, both in the vineyards and in the wine cellars, if it is to express all its characteristics.

A natural clos
The estate is a naturally walled vineyard which protects and safeguards its rows of Pinot Noir vines like precious treasures to watch over, preserving them against fogs and spring frosts, ripening them whilst defending them against excess heat and cradling them on a soil ideally suited to their characteristics, just like Mother Nature.
The estate has been an amalgam of history, magic and legends for centuries, making it unique with that ancestral power and charm which this little hill is suffused with. The bond with France is ever present and not random for us but intriguing, fascinating and moving.

Love born
Just a few kilometres from Mt Castellaro is a small hermitage devoted to a French saint Theobald, heir of the Counts of Champagne who found refuge and care here on his pilgrimages.
It is precisely from this star conjunction and synergy with Mylene’s land of birth and on the summer solstice that the sun rises from the peak of Mt Castellaro and floods the whole estate with heat and beneficial rays.
At that precise moment time seems to stand still and even the wind stops blowing for a moment. Everything is in harmony – sky and land come together to breathe life into these small bunches of grapes which, from that moment on, begin to grow and receive from this land everything they need for this one-of-a-kind Pinot Noir Rosè, with all this magic and love behind it.
